About:

The Antigua State College Journalism Association (ASCJA) was founded in October 2006, in an attempt to positively impact the lives of individuals. The ASCJA therefore purposed to regularly publish a newspaper to accomplish this vision.

The ASCJA was formed by a group of audacious students, led by Adom Taylor, that were determined to do what was necessary to bring this literary body alive. This small group of passion-driven students meticulously established all the components necessary to have a thriving newspaper association. This included editorial teams, proof-readers, designers, a marketing team, writers, and a constitution. In order for the newspaper to be a self-sustaining unit, there were also several business principles that were immediately integrated into the association’s action plan. This resulted in ASCJA being transformed into a sophisticated machine operated by the students and for the students

The association’s motto is “Empowerment Through Expression” and the field of journalism is used as a medium for students to fulfill that motto. Consequently, the goal is to not only nourish young writers, but to also empower them in the process while simultaneously touching the lives of those who are impacted by our work.

.In order to accomplish these goals, the Association adopted the following objectives:
– To be the voice of the opinions, views and outlooks of the students at ASC.
– To develop journalism-based skills in the constituents of the association.
– To promote a spirit of philanthropy coupled with a holistic development of members.
ASCJA truly is committed to the development of students. Its rich heritage of passion and tenacity is still alive and the sophisticated machinery is still geared towards accomplishing its goals and fulfilling its purpose which are rooted in the motto of “Empowerment Through Expression.”
